Senator offers healthcare reform bill compromise

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) has submitted a proposal to Republican and Democrat members of Congress, offering a compromise on one of the most contentious issues in the healthcare reform debate. The proposal states that instead of a government-run insurance option favored by House Democrats, Congress would create a network of nonprofit cooperatives that would cover people without insurance.  Read full story >
