Actemra helps halt RA progress: study

Results from a new study have found that the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) drug Actemra helps halt the progression of joint damage in people with the condition when combined with the standard treatment of methotrexate. In a study of 1,200 people with RA, scientists found that after two years, 75 percent of subjects who received 4 mg/kg of Actemra and 83 percent of the patients who received 8 mg/kg had no joint damage progression, compared with 66 percent of the patients who took methotrexate alone.
