Insecticides linked to RA, lupus

New research has linked household insecticides such as mosquito and roach killers to the development of the autoimmune disorders rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. For the study, scientists analyzed data on nearly 77,000 postmenopausal women aged 50 to 79. They found that women who reported applying or mixing household insecticides had a higher risk of developing the two autoimmune conditions than women who did not use insecticides. Researchers say though they did not find a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the insect killers and the autoimmune disorders, the association was enough to raise a "red flag" about their link.  Read full story >
