TNF blockers do not boost cancer risk: study

An analysis of previous studies has found that treatment with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blockers does not increase rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients' chances of developing cancer. For the study, Swedish researchers looked at data on 6,366 RA patients who started taking the TNF-blocker drugs Remicade, Humira, or Enbrel between 1999 and 2006. They found that the overall cancer risk for patients taking these drugs was no higher than it was for RA patients not taking them.  Read full story >
