Tape May Reduce Pain for Some With Knee OA

Australian researchers have found that simple athletic tape may help relieve pain in older people who suffer from patellofemoral osteoarthritis, a type of arthritis that affects the kneecap. Taping has long been a treatment for young people who have chronic patellofemoral pain, which is caused by a misalignment of the knee joint. In the current study, scientists using MRI technology found that older arthritis sufferers also had this misalignment of the knee joint. The investigators then discovered that these patients' arthritis pain also improved with patellar athletic taping.  Read full story >
