Celebrex May Fight Inherited Form of Skin Cancer

According to new research, people who have the inherited skin disorder known as Gorlin syndrome may be able to reduce their risk of developing skin cancer by taking the painkiller Celebrex (celecoxib). Gorlin syndrome causes people to develop hundreds or even thousands of cancerous lesions known as basal cell carcinomas. But in a new study, people who had this condition and who took the arthritis drug Celebrex had significantly fewer lesions after two years compared with patients who were given a placebo.
