Bleeding Risks Vary Among NSAID Painkillers: Study

A review of nearly 10 years of medical literature has found that when it comes to gastrointestinal side effects--especially bleeding in the stomach--not all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers carry the same risk. The scientists say their finding suggests that people who need to take NSAIDs, including the newer COX-2 inhibitors such as Celebrex, should take the ones with the least gastrointestinal side effects or take them for as short a period as possible.
