Boomers Seeking Treatment for Drug Abuse on the Rise

According to a new report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, admissions for illegal and prescription drug abuse treatment among people ages 50 years and older nearly doubled between 1992 and 2008. The researchers found that 75 percent of the admissions of people in this age group occurred among people who had first abused drugs before they reached age 25.
