Scientists Test Stem Cell Treatment for Osteoarthritis

A new study in the United Kingdom is testing a stem cell therapy on patients in that country who have osteoarthritis (OA). In the year-long study, scientists will mix stem cells with cartilage cells in a laboratory and then inject back into patients' damaged knee joints. The researchers hope this treatment could provide an alternative to joint replacement surgery for people who have OA.  Read full story >
