Joint Replacements May Aid Weight Loss

In a study of 196 patients who had received a hip or knee replacement, researchers found that nearly 20 percent of these patients had significant weight loss and decreased body mass index after undergoing the joint-replacement procedure. Loss of weight was more likely among patients who received a knee replacement, investigators found, and patients who were already obese before their surgery were also the most likely to have significant post-surgery weight loss.  Read full story >
