New Rheumatoid Arthritis Drug Enters Phase II Clinical Trial

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the start of a Phase II clinical trial for Chelsea Therapeutics International's new drug for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Company officials say the trial, which is designed to evaluate the drug's safety and efficacy, is a step toward finding an alternative treatment for RA, which is currently dominated by methotrexate as a standard treatment.
