Depression Makes Arthritis Pain Worse: Study

South Korean scientists have found people who suffer from depression also experience more pain from knee osteoarthritis (OA). In the study, the researchers looked at X-rays to determine the severity of OA of the knee in 660 adults. They found that reports of arthritis pain were higher in depressed patients, even if their X-rays did not show significant joint damage. Investigators say this finding suggests that both depression and pain should be considered when treating patients with knee OA, since the two seem to be connected.  Read full story >
