Some Rheumatoid Arthritis Drugs May Boost Skin Cancer Risk

A review of previous studies has found a link between the use of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors such as Remicade (infliximab), Enbrel (etanercept), and Humira (adalimunab) and an increased risk of skin cancer. These drugs are often used to treat such autoimmune diseases as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease. Researchers say that though the study did appear to indicate an increased skin cancer risk among TNF inhibitor users, their study did not link the meds to a higher risk of other types of cancer.  Read full story >
