With the Mental Illness, you will face the subject matter. The Brain is something else. I have asked friend and family members over the decades, as to which is the most powerful .... the Brain or the Heart? I got of course mixed answers. My opinion is the Brain is more powerful. I will leave it at that.
Moving on, I will say that anyone with a mental disorder will display too an interviewer some sort of "clue". If the disclosure the disease, they will most likely not be employed because of a companies, or federal agencies secret medical regulation. If they are on anti-psychiatric med's, the symptoms will show. The anti-psychiatric med's are powerful. You literally can't walk or talk while taking such anti psychotic drugs.
I do not know which is the meanest, delusions, or seizures (sz or brain tumor). The Federal government has ran away from the issue over "decades" ago. The Federal gov't has secret medical regulations prohibiting us from contact with the public.
What is your opinion and decision in this matter????
You are the public!!!! I don't know much about your FDA in the U.S. ( I'm Canadian). but here in Canada my doctor keeps me informed about all the signs of illness that I have to contend with. Incidentally, I got a job because I had schizophrenia not the lack of it. That brain will work around the issues that hold people back from employment.
In my community, volunteers are always in short supply, so many of us start at that point. There are also businesses in the community that go out of their way to accept and employ persons with disabilities ( esp. mental )
Note to Robin: Thank-you for your kind thoughts. In the final analysis, based on only my own experiences, the issue of employment and employment readiness is a medical one and should be viewed as such. The rest is society and it's impact on the traumatized individual.
Take care you guys !!!
