My mom has schizophrenia or bi-polar depending on which doctor diagnosed her. She has had it for about 38 years, my entire lifetime so far. My brother and I were adopted by her and my dad before they knew she was ill. She has been in and out of hospitals since as far back as I can remember. Our life has never been dull... She has taught me so much about perseverance, strength of character, love, and pain!

Hello Heidi,
Your SharePost is beautiful.
I am sure your mother loves you very much.
It isn't easy having a loved one who has a mental illness.
You are right: it gives you all those things: strength of character among them.
Continue to post here if you feel like it.
The Connection is a welcoming community.
We understand what it is like to live with someone who has schizophrenia.
Enjoy your day.
Regards,
Chris
Thank you Chris!
