Hopefully, if funded like Social Security, there would be safeguards to keep the money from being used in the same manner as SS money: for things that have nothing to do with the plan.

 

And I know it sounds good to eliminate "risky" medical procedures.  But if your life depends on one of these procedures?  Do you want the government telling you whether or not you can have it done?  What if the procedure was an experimental one that offered a significant chance of being cured of schizophrenia?  Then would you be in favor of a panel of insurance experts deciding whether or not it was worth the risk? 

 

I understand something needs to be done.  I just hate that the gov't is the one who wants to be in charge of it.
