Hello All - Meditation works for ALL ailments and disorders, including schiz. It works for me. There are two small words to use (whichever you like). HU is a very healing one. It's sung in a long , drawn -out breath (the breathing part) and it's pronounced like the man's name Hugh. So Huuuuuuu. You can try this any time of the day or night, while on the bus, silently, or at home out loud. Or before sleep is very healing. If you don't like HU you could try OM, but they both work and have been proven by spiritual guides for centuries
After you try these techniques for a few weeks, you'll notice a feeling of well-being come over you and life will be that much easier to handle. It's a practical thing. You take the focus of the mind away from whatever it was doing and concentrate it on the spiritual word for a few minutes In other words, you give your mind a nice rest. And heaven knows we all need that from time to time.
Peace

Hi Christina!
You sound like me...I have gotten such books out of the library and while I love the whole idea of meditation...I just can't seem to get into it. Sometimes I don't want to be trapped within my mind and thoughts...I want out! I realize this isn't what meditation is about but quite frankly...I would rather be distracted.
Tried yoga too and tai chi. I...didn't care for them so much. But something like kickboxing feels good to me. To relax I enjoy playing games on my iPad, using my aromatherapy machine with smells and sounds, or going for a ride on my bike.
The breathing, yoga, and meditation...just seem like forced relaxation...and for me...something to get through but I don't enjoy it. But maybe I should give it another chance.
Yes do tell us how your meditation goes. I want to know if it helps.

I have meditated daily since 1980. While it does not "cure" mental illness, it does relieve some of the symtoms. It lowers my stress levels as well as my blood pressure. I reccomend it. I feel I'm a better, healthier & happier person.
