When I was a disc jockey, I'd mix intuitive segues: rock-n-roll and the blues, classical and punk. So, too, with my writing, I make connective leaps, and right now I found the perfect words to link to this blog entry on taking medications. Elizabeth Gilbert-a smart, beautiful, kind writer-wr...

Great blog Chris .      It's good to speak out. It's OK to say medications work.

It's testimony like yours that gives others hope that they can be functional in society, while taking their meds without fear of reprisal.

Medications work for me ,too!    I've been prescribed many different ones but now I take olanzapine, seraquil, tegritol, topamax, and clonazepam.  It's a biggie combo for me !

And they work.   I don't see the hideous faces any more; I don't see the lights in the sky, and all is well.

I live independently, and work part-time as a janitor's assistant.  The resources of the Housing Authority make it possible for me to live quite well, for which I am grateful, and being a spiritual man of 49 look to a higher power for guidance and strength.      Meds make it all possible ,though. You are right-on with that aspect of life.

I find that the medications work good for me also and I would never think of not taking them unless so directed by my psychiatrist. I have been on a wide array of medications but now I am on Seroquel and levothyroxine. For those folks that say they don't like the idea of having to take medications I say would you stop any other medications such as one for heart, diabetes just to mention a few? If the medication a person is currently not working then you should let your doctor aware of the fact so he can try something else.

I am glad to be living in an age newer medications are in the works and I have no qualms about taking medication to control my schizoaffective disorder.
