Improving Your Mental - and Physical - Health with Exercise

By Christina Bruni, Health Guide Thursday, January 24, 2008
In December when I saw Dr. Krall, my c-reactive protein was wacky, thus I'm at an elevated risk for heart disease, even though my cholesterol level and weight are good. Well, I admit I had slid back into not exercising in the fall, and it was time to get hip.I've belonged to my gym for four y...

Chris I want to congratulate you on your decision to star exercising again. It is a decision you will not regret. I joined a class last Winter that was named Never Say Diet. The class was free and it consisted of a brief lecture on health, a quick and easy snack and a brief exercise period. The class lasted for 16 weeks. I am happy to say that class motivated me to keep exercising and I am happy to say I try to walk 6 days a week for 45-50 minutes and I do other exercises in the comfort of my home when watching t.v for another hour. I have in over 2 years lost 50 pounds and have gone from a size 16-18 to a size 8-10. I  stand 5 feet 5 inches tall and will turn 48 in March. I feel a person must set their prioities and for me that includes exercsing and walking at least 6 days a week. One other point I would like to make is that a person's execising does not have to be done all at once but instead can be broken down into what is the most convient for an individual to do.

Hello Janet,

You realize, don't you, that to be 5'5 and fit into a size 10 is something most American women would covet.  I honestly doubt you need to lose any more weight!!

Congratulations on your success!!  I would say you are at the perfect weight.

Right now the delivery guy dropped off my laundry so I'm able to go to the Zumba class in one hour.  Otherwise, I would've had to go to the gym later and do the treadmill instead.

Thank you, as always, for your encouragement and kind words.

One thing I noticed: exercising at least three days a week gives me a boost.  When I exercised only twice a week, I didn't feel much difference.

Another thing: a person needs to do cardio to jump-start her mood.

Again, thank you and God bless.

Chris

Hey Chris Thanks for your comments but to be totally honest with you while yes I have lost a lot of weight I am now on a routine of maintence. I am not exercising just for the physical benefits but I  exercise because it leaves me feeling so good both mentally and physically. Please don't think I am exercising just to lose weight because now all I want to do is to maintain my current weight.

I hope others who read your post come to realize how good exercising can leave a person feeling both mentally and physically. Good Luck to you and I would defintely reccomend any person to try exercsing. One would be surprised all the benefits a person gets from exercising. Finally I would like to reccomend a person check with their medical doctor before trying any exercise program and to begin slow.
