Introduction From Community Manager

  • Hello SchizophreniaConnection Members,

As the Community Manager for SchizophreniaConnection, I want to introduce myself and welcome you to our online forum. I've been involved here for three years as an expert and have written about 200 SharePosts, which you can view in the archives linked to my profile.  You can also send me a message via my profile.

In the coming weeks, we have some exciting features planned, including:

    • The return of the 100 Individuals interview series with a one-on-one with a passionate woman, who volunteers her time, about what it was like when her son had a breakdown.

Add This Infographic to Your Website or Blog With This Code:

    • The introduction of the Question of the Week, starting with the topic of side effects of SZ medications-an interactive message forum where you can share and learn about side effects and how to manage them.
    • A second Recovery Café featuring a long-time community member and me talking about independent living and our new apartment lives.

    Our philosophy:

"You may not post or transmit any Member Content which is harmful, threatening, abusive or hateful. It is not our intent to discourage users from taking controversial positions or expressing vigorously what may be unpopular views; however, we reserve the right to take such action as we deem appropriate in cases where the Member content is being used to disseminate statements which are deeply and widely offensive and/or harmful. However, we are not obligated to take any action."

Whether you've written SharePosts or just quietly read on, I want you to feel comfortable here. At SchizophreniaConnection, we have zero tolerance for disrespect shown to the site moderator, experts or fellow community members.

As we walk together down the road of recovery, not all of us are going to have the same viewpoints or be at the same place. Our unity is only as strong as our diversity. We can learn from each other, share and grow. I urge you to consider writing a SharePost by clicking here.

Please refrain from posting your phone number, address or personal e-mail address in your public profile, SharePosts, comments, questions or answers. If you do post personal information such as this we may remove it from the site. Any links to products you are selling will be removed. Requests for money or donations will be deleted.

As the Community Manager, I'm proud to be a part of SchizophreniaConnection and respect and admire each of you for logging on and taking the first steps in achieving a better life. Remember, though, this web site is not a substitute for professional treatment, and you can review Health Central's Terms of Use here.

I want to tell you how honored I am to be in your company as you contribute personal stories, ask questions about pressing concerns, and start message board threads. I understand the nature of SZ and how it can be hard every day to live with this devastating illness. Your humor, sunshine, courage and empathy carry me-and I'm sure everyone else-through.

    Warm wishes,

    Christina
