wadering about results on a cbc

By sunfire Thursday, April 02, 2009

For about 16 year the Mch and sometimes Mchc on the cbc has showed high now usually the MCV is showing high. I get a cbc every month for my meds. Could this be anemia? I am going to ask my psych doc about this I got my medical records from my regular doc today and I noticed this I am alittle upset that they had'nt noticed this before. So I say to everyone get a copy from your doctors and be your own advocate PLEASE I am really upset..Undecided And wondering if I should have done this before, I think I should have but thought that they were doctors that they would notice things about my reports.

Hi sunfire,

Thank you for telling everyone to stay on top of their medical records.

Alas, I have a primary care doctor who calls me the same day or the next day and tells me the results of my bloodwork, and I realize not many doctors do that.

Doctors will only respect a patient who wants to be proactive about his or her health care.  If your doctor balks at you getting informed, it may be worth it to find a doctor who takes you seriously.  I had to leave a doctor I saw for many years because of his benign neglect that bordered on harmful.

Regards,

Christina
