I was Wondering what if anything states or cities anyone lives in is doing anything is honor of Mental Health Awareness Week? I live in Northern Ky around 20 minutes south of Cincinnati and to be totally honest with you I have seen very little at all being done for Mental Health Awareness week. I am disappointed in the local chapter of NAMI because it is not a very active chapter. I did see where the local Mental Health America was having an open house with some screenings but I was unable to check it out.

I would like to ask what everyone feels about their local chapter of NAMI? The local chapter in my area only sends out their newsletter to paying members and  when I asked about their annual picnic which was held in August and was for clients they said if I would come I should bring my check book to pay my dues. I was under the impression clients did not have to pay dues and so since I did not pay the dues I feel I am not wanted. I was Curious to ask how other chapters operate and if you feel it is a strong chapter that is interested in helping folks that suffer from a Mental Illness.
