Book review

By Janet Wednesday, November 03, 2010

I just finished reading Sandra Yuen Mackay's book titled My Schizophrenic Life; The Road to Recovery From Mental Illness and I would throughly reccommend her book to anyone wanting to read a good book on Mental Illness. I too suffer from schizoaffective illness and I found I could relate to her book 100%. It is a book that I read in a day or two and found myself wanting to read on and on once I started. She does a Wonderful job of explaining her illness and what it is like liking with Mental Illness. She offers help to those of us with the illness and also the book is a good read to anyone wanting to learn more.

Thank you so much for your review! I'm glad you read it and took the time to write a review. I think there are some prominent books written by people with bipolar disorder, but fewer written from people with schizoaffective disorder.

I had a comment from someone who said, previous to reading the book, she didn't know what schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were like. She said, the book really opened her eyes to what I had experienced.

One reviewer said, the book isn't just about mental illness, but the life I've experienced so far - my art and relationships. We aren't just about 'illness,' we are multi-dimensional, with talents and abilities just like anyone else.

regards,

Sandra Yuen MacKay
