The movie The Soloist

I am writing this share post tonight to ask if anyone has seen the movie The Soloist staring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.? If so I am curious to ask what you thought about the movie. I saw it today and thought the movie was excellent. I would suggest seeing the movie and maybe getting a discussion going about the movie.

Hi Janet,

I saw the movie on the first day it was released; Oscar-worthy performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.

A realistic, balanced portrait of someone with SZ who obtained housing yet still lives with his SZ every day and refuses to take meds.

The movie is based on the book by Steve Lopez so I recommend we all read the book for more details about what happened to Nathaniel Anthony Ayers after Lopez befriended him.  I have not read the book; I would like to at some point.

Again, it was a powerful movie that made the connection between untreated SZ and homelessness, so for that the cast and director and writer are to be commended.  Hopefully, after seeing this movie, people won't be so quick to pass homeless people on the street without wondering what their story is.

At this time I would like to thank Steve Lopez for his courage to tackle the subject and his faithful support of Ayers through the years.

Just a beautiful movie.

Regards,

Christina
