I was wondering what others feel about President Obama's proposed Healthcare plan. I first went on Medicare Part A and B in 1988 and also have Medicare Part D that covers allows me to purchase my prescriptions at a much lower cost. I live in Ky and also have a card from the state of Ky that pays for my doctor visits and any hospitalizations. i feel lucky to have my benefits but wonder how my benefits would be effected under Obama's proposed healthcare. I also feel lucky I only take Seroquel and Levothyroxine so my drug costs remain low for me. My Seroquel would run over $200.00 a month if I had to pay full price for it. I do have a monthly charge for my Medicare Part D but it is not to bad.

Hi Janet,
I will be covering the health care options as they unfold in the Senate and House, here at the Connection. What also concerns me is that people who have insurance through their jobs don't have adequate coverage so they go bankrupt because they can't pay for the added bills. Plus the fact that close to 50 million Americans DON'T have health care. When I lost my first job, I had to decide between paying the COBRA monthly to get health care, or using my severance to live on. So in addition to your concerns, I'm sure other people are feeling the pinch. This is bad news all around for everyone.
Your case and the experiences of a lot of people is that you can't risk finding work or you'll lose your health benefits. That is sad as well.
Regards,
Christina
