If I were selfish, I would say, "Leave it alone," because I have excellent coverage.  I have Medicare as primary and Blue Cross Blue Shield as secondary.  Practically everything is paid for, including medication.  All I pay is a co-pay for the meds.  Zyprexa would be especially costly if I didn't have the insurance.  Naturally, I would not want a plan that altered my coverage.  Or changes that would make it less likely that I would have any medical tests that my doctors think necessary.

Still, I know many do not have adequate coverage, and many, no coverage at all.  Including family members.  My mother and sister sometimes go without the medications they need, and go without seeing a doctor when needed beause they have little or no insurance.  Medicare and Medicaid does not cover everyone, but it has helped.  I am very fortunate to have full coverage, and I am grateful for it every day.  If I couldn't take Zyprexa every day, I can honestly say I don't know if life would be living because I quickly decompensate without it.

I hope and pray that Obama and congress will have the wisdom to find the right solution -- it will not be easy.  I hate to see more bureaucracy in our medical care, but I agree that something needs to be done.
