out in the open

By gina olinger Sunday, April 25, 2010

ever since i've been diagnosed in 2005 to have this illness, i've been wanting to belong to the world at large - scared and frighted by what others will tell me more abt. it, i thank the God (of my understanding) to be kind enough to give me some braveness in handling my days of unknown mystery.

Knowledge is power. Having a site such as this gives us support and the knowledge of those that have "been there." You are not alone and we are here to support you.

Have a good day.

Hello,

Welcome to the Connection!

You will find everyone here is on a kindred path to support and encourage each other living with schizophrenia.

Please read my profile and the other community members' profiles.  Read our SharePost archives.  You will see that recovery is not only possible it is probable.

Re-entering the world can be scary because of the stigma.  I would be careful who you disclose to unless you are a blogger like me whose career depends on writing about her experiences as a person diagnosed with SZ.

I was diganosed in 1987 when I had a breakdown after my beloved Grandpa was in a coma hooked up to a respirator in the intesive care unit.

These things happen.  It is not the enormity or severity of a challenge that determines how you succeed.  How you respond to that challenge is what determines the outcome.

So I wish you well.  Tootle around the Connection.  Feel free to contribute as much as you'd like.

Regards,

Christina
