For those interested in research

I'm the Clinical Director of the Northwestern University Schizophrenia Research Group. My educational background is in psychology, social work, psychiatric epidemiology, and psychiatry, I'm bring multiple perspectives on how to study schizophrenia and how schizophrenia can affect families. Currently, I have ongoing survey research studies to examine the social development of siblings (9-45 years old) of individuals with schizophrenia (IRB#5657), the physical health of mothers with children (9-45 year old) that have schizophrenia (IRB#5367). In addition, I'm using brain imaging technology to study how the brain is involved with empathy in individuals with schizophrenia (18-45 years old) (IRB#13034). Lastly, I'm collaborating with Dr. John Csernansky, MD, and Chairman of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University. His study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (IRB#3230), uses brain imaging techniques to examine how the brain changes over time in individuals with schizophrenia (9-45 years old). If you have schizophrenia or your child/brother sister has schizophrenia and you are interested in participating in research to better understand the illness, please call 312-695-8643 to learn more.

Hello everyone,

I would like to remind our community members [as I do every time a plea for research help is made] that you will be undergoing a medical procedure and should weigh the risks of this for a person who has no medical need for the procedure.

You will be getting an MRI or another imaging test.  Please make sure you verify the safety of the procedure.  Inks or dyes may be injected in you that must be certified as being pure.

Make sure you get all the details of what the procedure involves so that you can be confident in going through with this.

Regards,

Christina

Hi,

I just wanted to clarify that although some of our research includes the MRI (and no injections or dyes are needed), most of our research involves working on tasks at a computer or filling out surveys. Please let me know if you are interested by calling our number or you can message me directly.

Thank you for your interest!
