    Hello boopie,

Welcome.  You've come to the right place if you want to talk about it.

Everyone here has gone through what you're going through, or is still going through it.

    Best wishes,

    Chris

I would think that if your friend has a Brief Psychotic Disorder, it would not last for 3 years.  I think "brief" would be days, or perhaps weeks at the most.  Has she been to a doctor for diagnosis and treatment?  If not, help her choose a doctor and offer to go with her.

You are a really special person to go through this with your friend.  And yes, psychosis or any kind of mental illness is not something I would wish anyone to go through.  I have had sz symptoms along with depression for most of my life.  And it seems like I will finally think I am almost back to my old self, and here it goes again.  It may turn out to be that way with your friend.  God bless you for helping her.
