One of the "symptoms" that my friend had was that he would have these "prophetic" events were he would have an intuition of something happening just before it happened but at times, it was rather confusing as to which actually happened first. At other times, it was quite convincing. Even so, he has s...

It is common, Daleri, for people with sz to think they have special powers, or to ascribe major and minor coincidences or events to these "special powers."  That is what a delusion is.  Is your friend on medication for schizophrenia?  His ability to keep a job may depend on being med-compliant.   The most special power we have as humans is not balancing a coin on edge but is empathy, compassion, love, generosity, self-control, joy, patience, kindness, etc.

    Hi Carolyn,

Your point is well taken. The important "miracle" is a transformed life (for the better). He no longer does those things. He no longer has any of those symptoms. He never took any medication. Even "miracles" get boring after a while anyway and the real miracle is to be able to do all of the right things all of the time. That is what grace is.

    Hi Daleri,

Again, your friend is in the tiny minority who if they had schizophrenia can do without medication.  I wonder if something else was going on.

    Regards,

    Christina

At the time, they wanted to put him on medication and now, they don't believe that he was having those very symptoms of sz. That is about as predictable as anything. Just discount everything that he had to go through alone without him even knowing what was happening to him until years later when he saw that documentary in England about people affected by sz. His sz symptoms were severe and since he beat them on his own without any medication, just discount the whole thing or we can learn from what he did to help others affected with the same symptoms. A "normal" person is not able to go without sleep or food for three days straight. A normal person does not see and hear words at the same time or almost pass out from flames that gave him tunnel vision which only he could see and feel and does not have the person in the mirror scold him. A normal person does not hear loud explosions or continue to have hallucinations and symptoms for years to come. A normal person does not have preliminary hallucinations years earlier. Just discount all the progress and success that he has had as if nothing ever happened. I am sure that he would just love that. No wonder you never hear of any successes.

That would be a good question for the doctor. It sounds the same to me except that with sz, it is often both audio and visual but I suppose it could be just audio too.

    Hi,

Audio hallucinations is another word for hearing voices.
