exhusband has sz

By picpad Thursday, December 20, 2007

my ex was recently diagnosed with SZ but refuses to do any follow up diagnosis or treatment. as a result, i am dealing with him constantly in and out of jobs, borrowing money, erratic behavior, etc. he is a good father however, he is very accusatory and paranoid about my behavior which causes problems. should i file for full custody and/or supervised visitation and limit visitation until court decides? also, how do i explain this situation to our son?

I think the first thing you need to do is to talk to a mental healthcare professional.  You DO NOT have to be ill to consult with a professional!  They can best advise you of your options.  Your ex's psychiatrist will not talk to you because of privacy laws, so you'll need to find you own.

Check out www.nami.org, get the number of their nearest chapter and call them.  They can recommend someone for you to talk to.

My very best wishes,

Robin

Hello picpad,

I recommend you try for full custody if your husband refuses treatment.

Sincerely,

Christina
