Cool Beans

By earlyriser Wednesday, January 19, 2011

We used to say "cool beans" in high school. Why, I can't remember. I used that as my title for lack of a better one. Maybe there is a better, but this old mind is tired and isn't very creative.

Today I am helping a church member move, she's moving to Georgia. We are taking her furniture to a Sister missionary's apartment.

I am feeling a bit down. I have a lot going on this week so I am not overally concerned.

The morning tune is a song that is either Italian or Spanish...I think its more Spanish its called "Esperanza". I love that type of music. Music has always played an important role in my life. As a child I listened to country music (King James rules). As a teenager and into adulthood I listened to rock (rebelling against King james). In my 30's, opera entered my life. I even volunteered at the local operahouse. Now in an effort to be mindful of what I allow into my mind, I listen to the "crooners" like Michael Buble, Sinatra, Martin etc. For Christmas Margaret bought me 3 cd's of piano music. I also listen to church music. There are many times at church while singing a hymn I will get choked up. Let me tell ya, its so much nicer driving down the highway listening to "Esperanza" then ACDC screaming "Highway to hell"

That's all folks. I have to take the garbage out.

May peace enter your mind....not ACDC!!

Hi David,

Esperanza if memory serves is the Spanish word for hope.  So yet listening to peacful music is a way to feel hopeful.

I like Norah Jones and Diana Krall and Corinne Bailey Rae.  I own most of the Norah Jones CD.  I like to go to Starbucks and buy the CDs they sell in front of the register.

To be honest I stopped listening to Everclear who used to be a favorite modern rock band of mind.  And I want to scream when I hear AC/DC on the radion.  That music surely is geared for people driving down the Highway to Hell.

Cheers,

Christina
