Cooking for charity

I have trouble posting here. My desktop computer won't allow me to write in the sharepost section. My laptop (which I am using right now) doesn't always let me log in.

Friday I helped with a dinner for the Boy Scouts at church. I got there at the agreed time of 1pm. Actually it was about 12:45pm (I like to be early.) It was a good thing that I was early as I forgot my dessert for the auction, I had to go home to get.

About 1:15 pm two church members and I started to cook. The sauce took most of my time. I taste tested it on several occasions to "get it just right." It just didn't taste good to me. I called Margaret and asked her what to put in to take away the tomatoey taste..she told me to put sugar in it. Great idea. I had to pick up a guy so while I was gone the woman put some sugar in it. When I got back a young Italian man tried the sauce. I should say a "fussy" young man. He said it was good. I still didn't think it was right, so I added a little sugar. At last it was good. There was so much sauce that the spoon I used to stir it wasn't long enough. My hand went in the sauce about 3"! I wore gloves.

I made about 28 lbs of spaghetti. I cooled it so it wouldn't cook. When it was time to eat I took the cold pasta and poured hot water over it to heat it up. Did I mention 5 #10 cans of green beans? There also was salad and rolls (that wasn't my job).

After the meal they had the dessert auction. My cheesecake sold for $30! One dessert sold for $75!

I started washing dishes. Actually I washed dishes as I used them. At 8:15 pm I finally left the church, totally exhausted.

Lastly I want to say that I was, like my daughter told everyone, "in my element". My depression is gone.

My mouth dries up when anxious...not last night. I was so busy that my mouth didn't dry. That means I was at ease (although busy) and that I felt good being there.

The woman that was in charge baked two spaghetti squashes. I never heard of them. When they were done I tried some. Wow! They were good!

"Do what you love, love what you do." I loved being there last night. My body is sore this morning...a small consolation.

p.s. I was asked to help with the picnic on Memorial Day.

Hi David,

Cheers!

It's good to see you had a good time.

I like your quote: do what you love, love what you do.

Have a good day.

Christina
