Side effects

Hi, I have schizo-affective disorder and am currently on Seroquel and it has worked for the most part accept for my strong psychosis. I am trying Trilafon and it makes me restless. I'd like to know if this side effect will eventually dissipate. I'd appreciate any information. Merry Christmas.

Welcome David. I currently take 600 milligrams of Seroquel at bedtime and it works well for me. Sorry it does not work the same for you. I was on both Seroquel and trilafon for a while but my psychiatrist took me off the trilafon because he felt I may be getting tardive dysentive. Meds work differently on diferent people so all I can say is if you continue to have side effects please let your doctor aware of the fact.

Hi David:

Janet is right. Different people react differently to the same medication. A given medication will work for some and not others, and each person may experience different side effects.

I discovered over the fifty years that I have been taking antipsychotics that there are two measures by which to evaluate a medication for oneself. Does it: 1) help one with positive symptoms (psychoses, etc.) and negative symptoms

(low affect, etc.), and 2) can one deal with specific side affects it produces. The secret, of course, is to find a medications that have the best combination of these.

I don't think you should be concerned. It took me awhile to find the meds that worked best for me, but once I found the right combination of medications, it worked for me for over 40 years.
