Been trying to quick smoking now for about six hours. Just got it in my head that today I would quit. Made it through work OK but there was a lot of mental bs that I had to wade through to get past that pack sitting on the dash of my car. No bother, it's 3:00 now. I promised myself as I left work ...

quitting smoking
Chris
Monday, August 04, 2008 at 01:55 PMI Read Christina's reply and just wanted to add that Zyban, is exactly the same drug as Wellbutin, used as an antidepressant, often helpful in schizophrenia and attention Deficit Disorder.
The reason I post this here is because of us observing how changed our son was while taking the Zyban and quitting the cigs about 3 years ago. (Temporarily only) I must say we, his parents were dreading the effect stopping his nicotine would have on his mood and temper, as he chose a stressful time to quit.
So we were amazed to note that he seemed immediately calmer, more focussed and organised when he visited us and this was sustained while he was on Zyban. I have no doubt this was a beneficial effect of the drug, and my son admitted he felt better and clearer.
Only later did I read about its other psychiatric uses, and so we had no expectations of it as therapy but the effect it had was remarkable to me...I knew there was a key somewhere.
Now I believe he was in the prodrome of sz, probably developing through adolescence.
Good luck with your efforts, but take care not to bcome obsessed with the battle with the weed, without medication to helpyou through.
Best wishes ,
Chris,

Hello Bruce,
It takes awhile to quite smoking, I know people who used Chantix or Zyban (prescription drugs) to aid in becoming smoke-free.
Do you want to try that? Or would it be just another drug?
Seems like you've been on a variety.
Have a good day.
Enjoy.
