My question to you is as follows. does any of the medication you have taken made you feel any better? If not and if the side effects are not worth you taking that medication my advice to you would be to talk this matter over with you doctor. I have been on a variety of medications and have been taking medication for over half of my life. i started with medicine at the age of 23 and am now 47. It can be tricky to find the right medication and one that has the fewest side effects but i feel at least for now I have found that combination for me. I am thankful I live in a day and age that we have so many medications out thereand that new ones are still in the works.

i hope you don't think I am preaching to you but I do think you need to be upfront and totally honest with your doctor on your feelings about medications.

    Hello Lynn,

If you truly have schizophrenia and weren't misdiagnosed, chances are you need to stay on your meds, and if they don't work completely, stay on them until you find the one that does the trick.

    Regards,

    Christina

Wacko In the start of being told I have Bi-Polar and Seziure diorder I was used as a trial  and error. I was on 28, dig it 28 pills a day. How can anyone be themself taking all of those pills a day? Seems I had all the dumb sideaffects any one could get. I was a crazy doped up woman. Why would they have me on so many meds at one time? I now take Lithobid and Klonipin plus anti-seizure meds that work as a cocktail. NOW they are changing my meds again...Shoot!

Finding the right medication is a crap-shoot. I tried six different anti-psychotics, eight different anti-depressants and one for mood disorders, all at varied doses. After ten years we found the right combination at the right dosage. Stay with it! Be very honest with your doctor about what a medication does (and doesn't do). I wouldn't want to go back to the way I was before!

It seems like it never ends!It has been awhile since i have been back in here. They have me on 19 diffrent meds.I feel like a giny pigSick. Now they have me on Abilify.Side affects are masive.Of all the 19 they have tryed on me,i have noticed that only one thing really helps me.And its against the law to puff the dragon.Real CoolYou know i think schiz,do run in the jean pool. Two aunts,Two cousins, and my grandmother.Sometimes i worry that my kids will have it when they get older. And they worry too.Im scared to keep taking this Abilify, cause they say it will cause harm to my body if i stop to fast.Im sick everyday from it.I cant work, and that makes things worse!FuriousThanks everyone for all your replys..This site really does work..lol..

I have tried many meds and find that only Zyprexa works for me.  When I take it, I am ravenous and insatiable, and I sleep too much.  When without it, I soon can tell I am relapsing.  I go on it till I start feeling well again.  Then I go off of it to try to lose weight and have energy and no fatigue during the day.  I have done this routine for a couple of years now and wonder what it is doing to my brain.  I wonder if I am inflicting irreparable damage to it because it has gotten to where even if I just lower the dose a bit, I am physically and mentally exhausted all the time.  It kind of scares me.  It is like my whole system is relying on Zyprexa to function now and I don't want it to be that way.  I am supposed to take 20mg and am taking 5 right now.  I used to have to take 40mg for it to be effective.  At least I don't have to take that much anymore.

Its nice to see someone that is feeling the same way as i do.I still haven't found the right meds yet.The zyprexa made me to tired all the time.I have been on many meds, but when i would start taking them the side affects would really take me down. Its hard to stay on medication when you already struggle to stay skinny.I am always fighting with the doctors because i don't want to take meds, that puts weight on me.Three weeks ago he put me on Risperdal. It has made me feel so tired and i was gaining weight so i stopped taking meds.I feel that i am relapsing, but i refuse to take anymore meds.I wonder too,if it does somethig to the brain, like maybe brain damage or something.I know i will have to start takig meds again, but not right now.
