Warning: the link I mention is very sad, but also affirming. It is good this difficult topic is 'getting an airing' in a humane fashion.
Article appears in the Seattle Post Intelligencer of 2nd March. The community's responses are also very thoughtful.
The link (fingers crossed) is http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/401885_filmmaker02.html
title "documenting a troubled mind"
Just read this most moving thought provoking personal account of incredibly complicated 'losses' (to self and family ) that can accompany and outlive the person suffering serious mental illness, when not stabilised. A brave and honest essay promising a moving film, from an adult now bereaved daughter (Delaney Rushton)'s perspective of her father.
Do read the comments also, they are also very well worth reading through though they are many....the issue of stigma runs clearly through, but also the difficulties when family safety etc are involved. (Echoes of many Ask Q's on this board, and their anguish)
The promised film has its website which is also interesting http://www.unlistedfilm.com

Chris thank you for sharing those links. I welled up with tears. I've had SZA my entire adulthood. My children know what it was like growing up with me. I often wondered how they felt.
