I had to write about this so as I won't forget. At my volunteer job (CTRC) I do something everyday I'm there. I walk up to people, smile at them and shake their hand. Well there's one man who never said hi or even acknowledged my greeting...until today. When I was doing my rounds this gentleman stuck his hand out and introduced himself. I was so happy. Before I left I went to say goodbye and told him that he made my day!
The saying at the end of this post says "It's not nice to be not nice.' I am amending that to say "Its' nice to be nice.'
Also at the CTRC I had a run in with a woman. Last time we saw each other I acted inappropiately. I went to her and apologized and admitted what I had done was wrong. She also apologized for yelling at me.
A group leader asked if I wanted to sit in on a group she does. I accepted. The group was really good. It's about "wellness". It was a good group and I really enjoyed it. Afterwards the woman asked if I'd like to keep coming. I of course said yes. She even offered that I co-chair it! OMG! That was so nice.
I know that through good works comes great blessings..to all involved!
I am blessed by many people in my life. Looking back isn't an issue anymore.
"The sun shines on the face of the sunflower."
"It's not nice to be not nice. Therefore it's nice to be nice."

Lovely post David.
Your actions and the thoughts behind them, seem like a shining example to me of some words from Proverbs (20.29), words I copied down last month , as I liked its encouraging message so much.
The message seems to say
: To 'dare' and take risk is worth it. ( the exhortation to make the most of whatever we have and share onwards )
Here it is with amendments better suited perhaps to our own modern day to day situations and expectations....
"A man 's gift maketh room for him, and .. opens doors for him
and makes him very welcome"
.. (bringeth him before great men") in original.
Best wishes
