My presentation for the state was a huge success. As I was waiting in the lobby, reading, killing time, outpatients were coming in. Wow there were so many I hadn't seen in years. Many look exactly the same, just a little older. My anxiety and nervousness rose. I took alot of deep breaths and told myself I was there for a good reason. This helped calm me down. When it was time to present, the room was full of men. I'm trying to connect with them. I have a hard time with it. Anyway, after a brief introduction, I gave an overlay of my life. Once I got talking, I felt comfortable. I spoke about my history of admissions to the state during the 80's.(There were several). I talked about my addictions and how I overcame them. I spoke of the many people who were instrumental in shaping me to become the man I am today. I felt a deep sense of pride to be there. I was in their programs years ago. It was a wonderful feeling going back there to reach out and support them. I offered them hope. It's now in their hands what they're gonna do. People lay the foundation for me, it is up to me to build upon it.

Afterwards a gentleman who works for the state and I've known many years, and was instrumental in getting me this gig, came up to me and wants to meet. He wants to know what I want and what my plans are. He said this is my calling. He's willing to help me to get up on the units to speak with inpatients. Wow  I am thrilled.
