Imagine if you will a hospital. Imagine a man lying on a guerny hooked up to a heart monitor. Look at the monitor. Notice how the heartbeat is. Up and down. If the lines are flat, then there's no life. My life is exactly like that. Up and down. I can't ask for anything les...

Have a great day!

A very well-written post. Makes a lot of sense. I guess ups and downs are part of life and living, although I had never thought of it that way. I say I want to be "stable" but I don't want every day to be predictable or the same as the day before. When I am aware that is happening to me, then I change things. I paint for a while, I go for a walk, I write notes of encouragement to friends, etc. But it took me a long time to get to this point. I recently read Dr. Amen's book, "How to Make a Good Brain Great." And basically, it said your brain needs to learn new things to keep making new neural pathways and connections. So instead of listening to the same old songs over and over, I downloaded the lastest Coldplay album. And I really enjoy it. And I am alternating popular music with classical music CD's.
Speaking of music, I too hear music often. When it is tolerable, it is songs with which I am familiar and I hear the same passage over and over. When it becomes intolerable, I hear 4 or 5 notes played continuously in the same sequence. Sometimes they are discordant and unpleasant. The only thing that stops the music in my head at these times is to listen to music I do like to hear. But the same notes are there in my mind when I am watching TV, listening to a conversation, using the Internet or email, etc. But the music is better than the demonic voices I used to hear.
Best wishes.
