Today I feel good. I'm a bit tired, because my sleep pattern is chaotic. That's not a big concern. Yesterday, myself and two others from my speakers group gave a talk at the local alcohol and drug treatment center. I had to sign an anonymity contract. I cannot talk about what the members said, onl...

Sorry -- I am working in the dark so I can't see the keyboard, only the monitor, and I hit something that made it post 3 times.  Mom gets worried if she thinks I am staying up too late.  After all, I am only 50 yrs old.

    Oh, Carolyn,

Lol, but in sympathy and tearful empathy of course! I hope you will understand.

Your comment rings so true for me down the years, even though at this time of year I am  constantly reminded and thinking with pangs of my mother's gradual bravely dignified yet suffering fading. She passed 28th October 5 years ago aged 83.

Even in  mature adult life I felt that 'good little girl role' in her company and her expectations  of me so strongly as to feel  absolutely stifled sometimes.

I recognise my 'stubborn streak' was an early developed  inner protection by me, against being overwhelmed by my dear ,loving ,but anxiously overprotective  directive mother. (It was not her fault but her very sad early life experiences, but they certainly had a huge knock on effect on me.

    Best wishes
