I offer this

By David Robbins Sunday, August 09, 2009

Today is Sunday. I haven't any solid plans as of this moment. Maybe we will go to the flea market. (Tedster needs some fleas...lol!) Speaking of Teddy, we took the three boys to the park. Of course Teddy had to chase the geese into the water. He went in after em. I hope he never catches any, because I don't have any goose recipes...LOL!

Now that the food topic is on the table, I'm gonna attempt to make some sausage gravy. I love that over biscuits. MMMMMMMMMM Sausage gravy over biscuits! I can hear Homer saying that. That's what's good about hearing voices, I can tailor them to say anything in any voice.

Ever since I put the shade down my paranoia as gone away. Maybe I could find a way to pull the plug on voices. I have the technology. Be gone d**n you. Fly, fly away!

Since my ship hasn't come in yet, and I'm tired of waiting, I'm gonna swim out to it. I don't know why I wrote that. I'm in a silly mood.

Yesterday at a store we returned something. At the courtesy desk the young woman started to wait on us but kept getting distracted when I tried to explain the return. I got curt with her and said (a little loud) that she isn't paying any attention to us. I guess I misunderstood the meaning of "courtesy."  Anyway it worked out.

Have you ever gone to Walmart and on the little card reader pad they ask questions like, "Did the cashier greet you? or "Was the store clean? I always answer them. Most places now have websites where you can evaluate the store and its service people. I always go to their websites and either praise or complain. Its my civic duty.

I will take my leave now.

Take care,

Live, love, laugh, learn, listen,

Dave

Angry again at the family

I didn't notice at what time you posted, but it is usually pretty early.  I get up anywhere from 5am to 8am.  Sometimes I half wake up and lie there and luxuriate in the warm covers for an hour or so with a cool fan blowing on my head.  (I like the sound of that word -- luxuriate -- it sounds like what it means.)  I am not a bubble bath person but I am a lie abed person.  Whenever I get frustrated or need a break during the day, I go into my dark bedroom, turn on the fan and lie down and think for a while.  Calm myself down.  It is funny -- the furniture in there is all white but I have such dark curtains and bedspread that when the door it shut it becomes something of a cave.  The room is pretty small...but big enough for me.

It is Sunday so I am preparing to go pick up my mom for church.  I usually go a little early so I can help her decide what to wear.  Even at 82 she is like a teenager and has to try on at least a half dozen outfits and model all of them in front of a full length mirror, jewelry and all, before she finally picks one.  I think it is cute.

One day this week, I decided to pray and fast for a day because I had some questions I wnated God to answer.  Some people fast to "cleanse" themselves physically.  It is supposed to be good for your digestive tract to do so once a week.  But I fast maybe 1 day a year for spiritual renewal. Once I fasted for 2 weeks to try to lose weight.  I lost 3 lbs.  Big deal!  And I was only drinking water, too.  But maybe I was just small enough at the time and my body knew it.  After 2 or 3 days you begin to get this high.  It is like your body doesn't have to focus on digestion anymore so it focuses on "digesting" what is in your mind.  Everything seems clearer.  Lots of time to think.  But then, I am a thinker.  Some people aren't.

I liked your customer service story.  I have an 80 yr old aunt who is totally disgusted by sales persons and customer service reps these days because of the way they dress.  She thinks the men should wear a suit and tie and women should have on a dress or skirt and heels (and a top of course -- lol).  But here are these sales clerks in jeans and a t-shirt.  I was an administrative assistant (glorified secretary) for 12 years and never once wore jeans or anything very casual.  This was before casual Fridays.

Oh well, I guess I am rambling on here.  Have a great day!

You gave me a wonderful idea..fasting. My church has a fast Sunday. I think it's the first Sunday of the month. I will try it next month...

A local grocery they used to dress in shirt and tie. Now they have t-shirts with the store name on em. I like the tie better.

Have a wondeful day!

Hi Dave,

Well, I wouldn't shop in Wal*Mart and that about sums it up so whether the clerks there are courteous is irrelevant.

To each his own.  You probably find a lot of great bargains there on cookware, right?

I bought a vase in Wal*Mart in New Jersey once when I was coming home from the boat with my parents.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself at the park.

Cheers,

Christina
