Good morning to you!
I don't understand why sales help are "crabby" if what you mean is rude or not courteous. I realize that for some it's a minimum wage job however that's no excuse because their attitude effects the customers and nobody will want to shop there. Unless of course it's the only store in town and people have to put up with the service.
Luckily I haven't been in many stores where the help wereen't helpful.
