A fellow blogger on the local newspaper site challenged to the bloggers to write a scary story. Here is my entry.

The night is quiet. The full moon shines brightly. Stars twinkle and glow. A gentle breeze blows through the trees. Crickets sing their melodies. Somewhere far off in the forest an owl hoots.

I tell myself not to be scared.

My ride has just dropped me off at the top of the driveway. I wait as the headlights turn away, wishing that they could stay and light my way.

I walk ever so slowly, taking deep breaths, thinking that this will be the night.

As I walk down the first part hill of the driveway, my anxiety increases. I get to the culvert that has a hole in the top. Fear mounts as I begin to imagine a hand reaching through and grabbing my leg. My hands are sweating my mind is swirling, my breathing increases, I can feel my heart pump. Thoughts rage until the fear rips through me. Panic consumes me. I bolt and run headlong down the driveway.

I'm almost home when all of a sudden a huge figure in the woods runs and crashes through the undergrowth. I see it, it sees me I scream and run even faster. I pray that I will make it home safely.

I made it to the house. I slump on the doorstep a pile of relief and anxiety are gone. I am safe now. Or am I?

The next day I found out that the creature in the woods was a pig that got loose from a neighbors farm.

Wish me luck I may win a can of Dr.Pepper and a can of Diet Dr.Pepper.

live, love, LAUGH, learn, listen,
