I found a reference to a study that was done in Europe, that found N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) has a beneficial therapeutic effect for those with schizophrenia. I bought a bottle at the local Whole Foods for $9, and have been trying it for a week now. The idea is that N-Acetyl Cysteine is a precursor of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant that protects organs and cells from damage by free radicals. So far, it seems the supplement has sharpened my thoughts and increased mental clarity -- in fact, I've felt close to normal on several occasions these few days, and have identified, at least preliminarily, the NAC as the agent that has effected this change.

I'll keep you posted as I sort all the data, in order to reach a sound conclusion about the supplement's effects. In the meantime, the NAC is proven to be beneficial and cleansing for your body, by fighting free radicals.
