A New Theory of Mental Illness

It is fairly rare to come across a groundbreaking theory that makes scientists take stock of their existing assumptions. This may be precisely what is about to happen with a new theory proposed by Bernard Crespi, an evolutionary biologist at Simon Fraser University in Canada, and Christopher Badcock,...

Years ago my aunt ( my fathers sister) said that my mothers side of the family has the SZ genetics. I have two 1st cousins on mom's that have a MI. There isn't any MI on my father's side.

I believe that theory.

I'm not sure exactly what was being said in your post, but a part of it really hit home.  My therapist has suggested several times that I "overanalyze" situations, especially those involving relationships and/or socializing.  I never thought about autism being on the other end of the scale.

I used to spend hours a day writing out conversations I might have with others.  I wanted to think of all possible questions I might be asked, then labored to answer them perfectly on my word-processor and almost memorize my answers word for word.  I was obsessed with such pre-digested conversations. The few relationships I did have were marred by my inability to simply "be myself."  My world was definitely me-centered, and I thought others, too, were centering their conversations and observations around me.

Part of my recovery has been the realization that most people are thinking about themselves, not about me.  And I am attempting to be more spontaneous.

Dear Chris thank you for your reply and coments,RE THE BOX/THE TRAP, it is a lenghy posting, but it shows a full picture and highlights, that many people have been subjected to a medical system that has major flaws, in the united kingdom, it has been discovered that many diagoses, were in correct, and classifications were wrong, and treatments and medications patients were forced to comply with were wrong, where i was framed and detained, if poeple believed their diagnoses were correct, it had a profound affect on them, weather the dianose was really correct was at times very questionable, with limited diagnoses, what i saw you could have put the soundest person you know in there, they would be forced to take a cock tail of drugs, interviewed in that state, then one or more diagnoses would be put on them, what i saw and was subjected to was very flawed, then a psychatric hospital, last year was busted for maor fraud last year, in norwich in the united kingdom, these hospitals have to justifie there exsistance, consultants there five star life styles, they need goverment grants, as i stated some of the people i was detained with you could have put any diagnose you wanted on them, no questions asked, hospitals have to balance their books, consultants want an impressive profile, listing who and how many peope they have diagnosed and treated, what i saw first hand, fell very short of professional care,

this mal pratice has now been exposed in the uk.

They even do a t.v show here were they mix normal people with people who have been diagnosed, and they are then et different tasks, a panel of psychacatrist then have to see if they can not only spot the poeple with diagnoses, but what those diagnoses might be for the individual they think has a diagnose of mental health disorder,

on many occassions the wrong individuals have been chosen, and the wrong diagnose made, schizophrenia on several occassions.

So things are not always what they seem, i was taught at school we came from monkeys, so i believed that was the truth, that i had been taught, only later in life you learn, that this was just one persons therory, like achild who believes in santa claus, or the tooth fairy, later find out they have been believing something that was not as they were led to believe, decieved by people they trusted, that same principle, mind games,

can be very much at work in the adult world and in the medical pratice, if they got some ones diagnose wrong and sad they had cancer, would have a profound effect on that person, and there life syle would change, almost at once, if they were later tolled, they had read the wrong notes and the person did not have cancer infat, that person would have suffered alkinds of emotions, believing he or she had cancer, i think you know the point im making, God bless johnny
