waking up

By Animus Thursday, January 31, 2008

Everyday I set my alarm for 6:30am, but usually I sleep in until 8, or in today's case until around 10am. I plan to wake up early so I can go for a walk.I still haven't gone for a walk... haha... but my intentions are there. Actually I feel very motivated about exercising, it is just hard putting it into action! I now have to start work at 3pm, it is too late to go for a walk now. Due to work I really need to go in the morning. So... next week! I'm just getting over the flu now so maybe that's why I have been sleeping in. Thanks to all who replied to my posts too, it is much appreciated, I hope there is something of value in it for you..Your replies have definitely been helpful to me.

It is good to know there are people out there who are in a same situation, as at the moment I don't really have anyone. Mental illness is kind of ignored or not recognised here in Japan. Apparently you can't even get SSRI medication or anti depressant. I am lucky as my parents are sending me medication from Australia through my doctor... but this is only temporary... Soon I will have to find a doctor in Japan. My point of view is that Mental illness isn't really recognised in Japan, but I could be wrong... The other day I saw a sign for a mental clinic near where I work. It will be hard to break through the language barrier, but it might be worth giving a go. I wouldn't have the faintest clue as to how to communicate my situation though. They mightnt know my medications, etc. Apparently there is an English speaking doctor in Tokyo. That is about 2 hours by Bullet train. That might be a better option.... I don't go back to Australia until November so I will need to do something about my medication until then... sigh*

I should go and do some preparation for my classes tonight, I feel a little disorganised at the moment, and my room is a mess!

MyAnimus,

You teach in Japan?  What kind of classes?

I would love to travel in other places, however, I'd fear not finding a psychiatrist if I needed medication suddenly.

Do you travel between Australia and Japan routinely? Very cosmopolitan, perhaps.  I do love to travel, alas, I don't have the money now.

Best,

Chris

Hi there Chris,

How are you ? Thanks for your message. I travelled back to Australia twice last year. I enjoyed a stopover in Singapore twice too. I haven't travelled anywhere else, but this year I would like to travel to China for the Olympics and to Korea at some point.  This year Asia, next year either America or Europe. I do like travelling but it is expensive, and it is difficult to access doctors.

I am an English teacher to Japanese people. I teach all ages, from children to adults. It is a great job. Japan is a great country. I would stay but I also want to move on and do something different.

I have read your profile, and I think it would be great to be in such a big, well known metropolis, and I am sure you have access to some good services. You are doing really well... thankyou for your support, it is something I can aspire to- being recovered from.
