The past month has been great, my Mum was here in Japan, travelling around and staying with me... though she had noticed something while I was asleep, that I sleep talked almost all night long. Is talking in sleep bad?

Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 01:48 PMMy A,
I talk in my sleep. My roommate talks in her sleep, and she HAS no disorders. What is wrong with a little dumping in your sleep? I've been told dreams and talking are processing of dealing with things we need help with when we are awake.
I laught about it. We joke about it. Do you think this might help u? Let me know if Docs consider this a sleep-disorder. I have something they called "twilight" sleep many years ago. I can't sleep deeply for long enough so I am always tired. I use trazadone for this, non-narcotic and works pretty good.
Thx for this topic.
Sincerely
Del/tinkerdel

Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 02:52 PMWhen I read your story, I thought this sounds exactly like me. I only started to find out more information because I was watching a documentary on sleeping disorders and it mentioned excessive sleep talking. I walk my partner up constantly, I've been known to hold entire conversations with people during my sleep and they think I'm coherent. I've been known to act out dreams, I waken myself up constanly through my own talking or sometimes screaming. It's incredibly embarassing having to explain myself to my partner because I've been talking about previous boyfriends. I've been sleep talking for years, I like you was thinking of going to my local GP but I think I will now just to ask some general advice.

Hello MyAnimus,
I'd say put your mind at ease and talk to the doctor.
I'm sure this kind of things happens to a lot of people.
Maybe you have a lot on your mind and you're subconsciously "talking it out/through."
See what the doctor says.
Best,
Chris
