why is there such a stigma associated with mental illness?I am afraid to tell people about me , because of it. I can't tell people when there is something wrong, as I fear they will not understand , and come to their own incorrect conclusions. I believe everyone has a right to individuality, and if w...

When l accepted my diagnosis I started the healing process. Stigma comes in many forms. My biggest stigma problem is caused by me.....self stigma. I put it upon me. I don't feel or get any stigmas placed against me, unless I do it. I am my own worse enemy at times. It takes positive self-talk, confidence and will power to battle it. It has been done. I'm doing it. It's hard labor, but in the end it pays off. I hope you find peace.

    Hello MyAnimus,

Yes, we all go through this.  Every day that I wake up and go to the computer to write a blog, I'm reminded that I have a diagnosis of schizophrenia.  And lots of times it feels unreal, yet it's true, and so I deal with that.

The best thing you can do is live your life true to yourself, and that is how you will heal.

Hopefully others will come around to seeing all the beauty in you, and if not, you can appreciate your beauty on your own.

Keep writing.  We're glad to hear from you.  Let us know how it's going.

    Cheers,

    Chri
