Avoiding Relapse

By Nate Thursday, March 27, 2008
I have been trying new things to take the edge off, because I know myself well, and once I become stressed, the illness becomes more powerful. I was just introduced to a few books in the last few months regarding coping strategies for stress. They include; Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Feel the Fear and Do it anyway by Susan Jeffers (this was actually recommended to me by my psychiatrist). These are two of the many strategies that are out there (Meditation and Positive Thinking), that I have been using for awhile and I find that they can on somedays, provide temporary relief and others, long term relief. I highly recommend these books as a few of the many strategies that are out there to stave off relapse.

Hello Nate,

Good to see you're back.  Your post inspired me to consider writing for the Connection in-depth reviews of those books.  Had heard of the Susan Jeffers book and hadn't read it, now I will.

Best wishes,

Chris
