We did it.

Well, 5 months after the meeting where we signed the papers agreeing to send our son to a residential treatment center, we delivered him last Friday safely and soundly. He was trying to convince us and himself that he didn't need to be there. We told him we were just trying it out to see how it would go. Yesterday when talking to the customer relations person, ( a liason between our son and us,) I found out he is doing well. He had made it...

I found it ...............finally.

Well after over 3 months of researching, crying, discussing, talking myself in and out of it, I believe that I have found the right residential sight for Adam. I struggle so much with getting him there. He looked @ the CA sites with us. When they were not a match, I think he thought we were finished looking. We had to go out of state to find the level of care and the appropriate setting for him. I am trying to focus on...

Things are looking up.

Last week my husband and I took Adam to look at 2 Residential Treatment Centers. It was eye opening. The first one was definitely not a fit. The Therapist that showed us around talked to us in front of Adam as if he weren't there. Adam was becoming very agitated. By the end, I asked him if he knew why we were considering this option for our son. He showed me a paper that said ADHD on it. By this time Adam was in tears and running his fingers...

Help me to understand

Hopefully, you are not all getting sick of my posts. Today, Adam wanted to go to Subway. We got to the car and he changed his mind. He said he didn't feel ready to go even though he had been asking me to take him for a half hour. I tried to give him a minute to change his mind, but he didn't. Later, he went to the grocery store just fine. Can you guys give me some insight on what he may be feeling? About 10 days ago, he got some glass in...

Turning pain into action

Today I read an article in Parade, a magazine that comes with the L.A. Times on Sundays. It was about how Susan Axelrod set out to save her daughter from uncontrollable Epileptic Seizures. She got to know other moms who were in the same position, formed a non profit organization to increase public awareness and raised money for research. I'm not even sure what's already out there for kids w/ sz, but maybe I should find out. This mom found a...

Update on Adam

Hi to Everyone,

Well since my last share post, I have heard the Dr.s diagnosis after seeing Adam for 6 months. I cried for two days which was strange and silly because I knew the answer. He said his working diagnosis is some kind of sz and ADD. He gave a very gloomy synopsis of what the rest of his life would be. That's why I cried. Anyway, the school district and county mental health, my husband and I had a meeting. They feel a...

He has a Dr. ,a therapist, a special ed. teacher, a special ed. tutor and Iam now recieving help from the county on what to do with him educationally. Does anyone know of a safe environment that I can trust. He has in the past and still does just not as much smpked pot. He uses it as an escape from his...
